It’s rather cold, as I’m close to Lillehammer.
The view out of my window 15:30 today:

That looks nothing like an oil rig though

It’s in the back yard for maintenance now that the oil price is so low.

Been there. Was snowing in the middle of August, but you sort of expect that at 1222 metres above sea level right by a glacier. Quite cool that you can just take the train up there though.

“Rather cold” is generous, I’d call that a polar wasteland cold. Also, that is probably the worst weather person ever.

That’s what we ended up doing, there was still too much snow on the rallarvegen in places and so we took the train through the mountain pass up to hallingskeid and then it started raining on us so we took the train the rest of the way in. We stayed the night at the vantahalsen, then rode into Flam the next day, it was great.

I think Anton had a three martini lunch.
Or better yet, this is the difference between Norwegian weathermen who must be hired for their competency and American weather reporters who are hired for their two, very beautiful and supple competencies.

Ah. I went up from the other side, with the regular train that continues to Bergen. Would love to try Flåmsbanen in the future, looks spectacular and sounds like a great trip.

We took the regular train from Oslo to Geilo to stay with some family, and then rode in from there, we rode down to Flam but took the Flåmsbanen back up. Riding was cooler by far. From there we continued on to Bergen to stay with some other family.

The state television only hires proper meteorologists, and he’s been around for over 30 years now. Became a cult figure quite early on, and now his son also does the forecast on that channel.
But don’t worry, we have that other type of weather reporters in the commercial channels..

In northern Norway they had -40 today. That is polar wasteland cold, but they just carry on as usual up there. Plus he’s a meteorologist that has worked on TV for 30+ years. I’d rather listen to him than someone that looks like a Kardashian.

I’ll be honest, I’d consider 10 Celsius to be rather cold, let alone -10.

I’m surprised you have light at 3.30.
I was in Stockholm in December 2014 which is (relatively) south and it was darkish by 3 and pitch black at 3.30.
No snow though.

Me too. I spent an entire month below -20 once. WHoooo. -10 never felt so good!

Makes sense, you also get actual weather. You could have a bikini model go up and say it’s going to warm and sunny in my area and she’d be right 95% of the time.

We had about 5 today which is the coldest for some time.
Don’t care so long as the rain stops.

Stockholm is only a couple of degrees south of here, so not surprising. It is quite far east though, and the same timezone. That might explain your experience of an early sunset.
The day is a few minutes longer here now, but not very noticeable yet. The sun is usually following the opposite valley side all day long, before going down at the spot in the photo.

It was between -15 and -20 from early December to early March the year I got my license. My morning routine was to get out of bed and dress up, go out and turn on the car with the heater on maximum and then go back inside for breakfast. Then hopefully all the ice on the windows had gone by the time I had to go to school!

We’re headed for -10 true temp, and -25 windchill coming up next week as we here in Iowa start to get Canada’s weather. Thanks El Nino.
